BUDGET RENT A CAR TO DRIVE SOWETO MARATHON

JOHANNESBURG, 4 November 2018 – For the third consecutive year, Budget Rent a Car will join forces with the popular Old Mutual Soweto Marathon, combining two iconic South African brands to create one of the most efficiently run events on the South African road-running calendar. 
Budget has come on board as an official sponsor of the race, strengthening the company’s growing reputation as the running community’s car rental partner of choice. The race, on 4 November 2018, will start and finish at the FNB Stadium in Soweto. 


Budget Rent a Car will supply Soweto Marathon organisers with vehicles to be used for event logistics, including three lead vehicles to follow the elite athletes at the front of the race.

The Old Mutual Soweto Marathon is one of the biggest inland marathons and a qualifier for the Comrades Marathon. It is also a celebration of Johannesburg’s vibrant urban settlement which has been the setting for much of our country’s cultural and political history. 


The race allows runners to experience these rich cultural surroundings as part of a spirited race-day running group, in a stress-free, professionally organised environment. The 42,2km marathon route passes the Hector Pietersen museum, Vilakazi Street, Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital and Walter Sisulu Square.
