Budget Van Rental Terms and Conditions

Conditions of Hire

PLEASE NOTE: FOR ALL STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS, PLEASE REFER TO THE BUDGET VAN RENTAL AGREEMENT.

- All vehicles are hired subject to the terms and conditions set out in the Budget Rent a Car (Budget Van Rental)(hereinafter referred to as BVR) standard Rental Agreement, copies of which are available at all BVR rental branches.
- These terms and conditions may change from time to time.
- The group models may be altered without notice. BVR reserves the right to substitute vehicles reserved with a similar vehicle should the vehicle reserved not be available at time of hire.
- Rental beyond the stipulated termination date must be authorised by BVR. Should the extended rental not be authorised by BVR the vehicle will not be covered by any form of excess waiver and the vehicle shall be held at the sole risk of the hirer.
- A cleaning/valet service fee may be charged at the sole discretion of BVR.


Rates
- Rates are subject to alteration without prior notice.
- The minimum rates charged will be for a period of 24 hours.
- All rates are quoted per day in South African Rands and are inclusive of VAT.
- All rates are quoted subject to availibility of vehicles.
- Rates quoted include maintenance but exclude petrol / diesel.


Drivers
- A valid unendorsed driver's licence, applicable to the size and weight of the vehicle, must be produced by the driver or any authorised co-driver at the time of rental.
- The minimum age for drivers and authorised co-drivers is 23 years. In the event of the driver being younger than 23 years of age, the following will apply:
~ Between the age of 21 and 23 years = An additional excess waiver charge of R20 per day will apply;
~ Between the age of 18 and 21 years = The renter/driver must provide proof of private insurance cover for the BVR vehicle
- Corporate account holders between 18 and 22 years may rent at no additional cost.


Terms of payment
- A deposit is required unless payment is made by Budget Rent a Car charge voucher.
- An authorisation deposit is required on, American Express, Diner's Club, Visa or Mastercard credit cards.
- Budget Credit Card application forms are available on request.
- Debit Cards are not accepted


One-Way Rentals
- No one-way rentals will be allowed unless authority from BVR is given.


Over Border Rentals
- Any renter wishing to enter Namibia, Swaziland, Lesotho and Botswana must be in possession of a letter of authority from BVR obtainable from the rental agent at the time of rental.
- The terms and conditions of the Rental Agreement of the country of irigin will apply to cross border rentals.
- Cross border rentals are not allowed into Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola, Zambia or Malawi.


Excess Waivers
Budget provides two forms of excess waivers; namely Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Loss Waiver. These excess waivers are not included in the rental rates, but the purchase of them ensures peace of mind for the customer.
- Personal property is not covered by the excess waivers.
- If CDW and TLW or any combination thereof is purchased and the vehicle is taken outside the country of origin with the written consent of BVR the terms and conditions as stipulated in the Rental Agreement of the country of origin will apply.
- Towing charges: The renter will be liable for the full cost of the service rendered.


Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
- The renter/driver is primarily responsible for the full loss in the event that the vehicle is damaged or written off. When purchasing CDW, the renter/drivers responsibility is limited to the Car Group exesses as set out in the table listing excess waiver charges.
- If the CDW is not purchased, the full value of damages to or loss of the vehicle is due and payable upon demand by BVR.
- The renter/driver will be liable for the full damage to or loss of the vehicle or parts thereof in the event of an accident occuring where the vehicle was not driven by the renter or driver as nominated on the Rental Agreement.
- In the event of an accident occuring or the vehicle being damaged whilst travelling on gravel, dirt or roads where conditions are not suitable for the vehicle, the renter/driver will be responsible for double the excess.
- A deposit is required if the renter/driver does not pay CDW at the time of taking delivery, based on estimated rental cost and the full value of the applicable vehicle. In the event of the vehicle being damaged in an incident or written off as a result of an incident, the renter/driver will be responsible for all damages suffered by BVR in this regard.


Theft Loss Waiver (TLW)
- The renter/driver is liable for any damage suffered by BVR resulting out of such theft, hijacking or loss of the vehicle or parts thereof.
- When purchasing TLW, the renter/driver's liability is limited to the Car Group excesses as set out in the table listing excess waiver charges.
- If TLW is not purchased, the renter is liable to reimburse BVR in full for its damages suffered in this regard upon demand by BVR.
- A deposit is required if the renter/driver does not purchase TLW at the time of taking delivery of the vehicle, based on the estimated rental costs and the full value of the applicable vehicle.
