Standard Liability is applicable to CDW and TLW, Super Liability is applicable to SCDW and STLW. General Information on Liability Waivers South African Residents: The renter/driver must provide proof of private insurance cover for the Budget vehicle if the purchase of BRAC EXCESS WAIVERS are declined. International Visitors: The purchase of BRAC EXCESS WAIVERS are COMPULSORY. The rental will be declined if the renter/driver does not purchase Collision Damage Waiver and Theft loss waiver OR Super Collision Damage Waiver and Super Theft Loss Waiver. Personal property is not covered by the waivers reflected above. If CDW, TLW, SCDW and STLW or any combination thereof are purchased and the vehicle is taken outside the country of origin with the written consent of Budget Rent a Car the terms and conditions as stipulated in the Rental Agreement of the country of origin will apply. Waiver charges will increase by R190 per rental(N$190 per rental, P190 per rental) in the event of a co driver being nominated. All waivers do not include any damage to the vehicle incurred as a result of potholes, dust storms and/or sand. Towing charge is for the renter/driver’s account, this charge is not included in any waiver cover. TERMS & CONDITIONS relating to waivers: An administration waiver claim fee of R500.00 (N$500.00, P500.00) will be charged on all liability waiver claims. Please note this includes claims where the renter/driver has taken Super Collision Damage Waiver and/or Super Theft Loss Waiver. A double liability is payable should the vehicle be damaged whilst travelling on gravel roads, dirt roads or any other surface which is considered unsuitable by Budget. In The Event Of An Accident Please remember that under South African law, all accidents must be reported to the nearest police station within 24 hours of the accident having taken place. In accordance with the terms and conditions as set out in Budget Rent a Car's Rental Agreement, all accidents must be reported to the nearest Budget location and all necessary documentation completed within 24 hours. Please note that non-compliance of the above could result in your claim being repudiated. Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) is an optional insurance cover which provides limited cover to the renter and/or passengers in the event of medical costs, disability or death. Included in PAI is Budget Assist, which is offered throughout South Africa, Namibia and Botswana to the renter. These services are rendered by Europ Assistance and are subject to their standard terms and conditions. Budget Assist offer the following: Medical Assistance 24 hour service for all medical emergencies, be they accident or illness related; Free transportation to the nearest appropriate medical facility by ground or air in the event of a medical emergency; Access to medical doctors, ICU, nursing sisters and paramedics; Assistance with admission to the medical facility; As many hospitals require a deposit upon administration, Budget Assist will guarantee payment of such deposit up to an amount of R2 000.00 (N$2 000.00, P2 000.00), which will be recovered from the renter; Monitoring of the patient’s condition and, on request, updates to family; Telephonic medical advice for minor ailments; Telephonic immunisation or prophylaxis advice; Please note that these services are assess only. The renter will be liable for the cost of the service rendered. Roadside Assistance in South Africa The 24-hour budget Assist call centre has access to a national network of motor vehicle service operators for mechanical breakdown and/or vehicle accidents. When requested by the customer, Budget Assist will: Dispatch an approved towing vehicle to remove your rental vehicle to a specialist workshop. Provide roadside assistance for common minor problems. For example: flat tyres, lost keys, lack of fuel, etc. Relay messages to family and colleagues in the event of a collision or breakdown. Assist with accommodation and travel arrangements. Please note that these services are access only. The renter will be liable for the cost of the service rendered. Directions in South Africa If the renter is unable to find their way, they need only contact the Europ Assistance tollfree number to be assisted with directions, whether it be a specific street address or assistance on the shortest route to take to a destination. Terms & Conditions of Hire Terms and conditions apply to South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. PLEASE NOTE: For all standard Terms and Conditions, please refer to the Budget Rent a Car Rental Agreement. For security reasons, renters need to produce a valid form of identification and a valid unendorsed driver’s licence at time of rental. Foreign Driving licences are acceptable provided the language used (printed thereon) is English and there is a photograph present. Should a licence be in any other language, other than English, we require an International Driving Licence to be produced at commencement of the rental. All vehicles are hired subject to the terms and conditions set out in the Budget Rent a Car (hereinafter referred to as BRAC) standard Rental Agreement, copies of which are available at all rental branches. These terms and conditions may change from time to time. The vehicle groups models listed in Our Fleet may be altered without notice. BRAC reserves the right to substitute vehicles reserved with a similar vehicle should vehicle reserved not be available at time of hire. Rental beyond the stipulated termination date must be authorised by BRAC. Should the extended rental not be authorised by BRAC, the waivers may not apply and in this event the vehicle shall be held at the sole risk of the renter. A cleaning / valet service may be charged at the sole discretion of BRAC. R45.00 (N$45.00, P45.00) contract fee will be charged per rental agreement. A fine handling fee of R190.00 (N$190.00, P190.00) will be charged for every fine the renter received during the duration of his/her rental. Rates Rates are subject to change without prior notice. The minimum rate charged will be for a period of 24 hours. All rates are quoted per day in the currency of the country of rental origin. R = South African Rand, N$ = Namibian Dollar, P = Botswana Pula). All rates are quoted subject to availability of vehicles. All rates are inclusive of VAT, where applicable. Rates quoted include maintenance and oil but exclude petrol/fuel. All rates are subject to a 1% Tourism levy on nett time and kilometre charges in South Africa only. R215.00 (N$215.00, P215.00) will be levied for collection and/or deliveries during office hours within 25km of the rental office . A basic minimum charge of R415.00 (N$415.00, P415.00) is applicable between 18h00 and 08h00 the following day within 25km of the rental office (After Hours). This applies for rentals during the week and between 12h00 on Saturday to 08h00 on Monday, within city limits. Delivery and collections outside city limited (>25km) will be charged at R7.00 (N$7.00, P7.00) per km. Weekend rates are only applicable from Friday to Monday for a minimum of two days and a maximum of four days. Rentals from certain Airports are subject to a surcharge on nett time and kilometre charges. Drivers A valid unendorsed driver's licence must be produced by the driver or any authorised co-driver at the time of rental. Foreign Driving licences are acceptable provided the language used (printed thereon) is English and there is a photograph present. Should a licence be in any other language, other than English, we require an International Driving Licence to be produced at commencement of the rental. The minimum age for drivers and authorised co-drivers is 23 years. In the event of the driver being below 23 years of age, the following will apply: Between 21 and 22 years: an additional excess waiver charge of R120.00 per driver per rental (N$120.00 per driver per rental, P120.00 per driver per rental) will apply. Between the age of 18 to 20 years: the renter/driver must provide proof of private insurance cover for the budget vehicle. Terms of Payment Payment by Credit Card for: South African Residents: The renter/driver must provide proof of private insurance cover the Budget vehicle if the purchase of BRAC WAIVERS are declined. International visitors: The purchase of BRAC WAIVERS are COMPULSORY. The rental will be declined if the renter/driver does not purchase Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Loss Waiver OR Super Collision Damage Waiver and Super Theft Loss Waiver. Debit cards, Cash and Cheques are not accepted as a method of payment. A deposit is required unless payment is made by Budget Rent a Car charge card or BRAC vouchers. An authorisation deposit is required on American Express, Diner’s Club, Visa or Mastercard credit cards. This deposit will reduce the available credit on the renters credit card. Budget Credit Card application forms are available on request. Cross border fee from South Africa to Namibia or Botswana (no charge for Swaziland and Lesotho) is R1 000.00. Cross border rentals are not allowed into Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola, Zambia or Malawi. Special Equipment Child safety seats (for certain models) are available by prior arrangement at a charge of R225.00 (N$225.00, P225.00) per rental. Paraplegic hand controls are available (for certain models) by prior arrangement at no extra cost in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. Frequently Asked Questions: Rental Contract Fee A rental contract fee of R45.00 is applicable to all rentals. There is a legal requirement to store documents for a period of 5 years. The fee is for the cost of administering, storing and retrieving all rental contracts. What is an Airport Surcharge and why is it charged? This is an additional cost applicable to rentals at all airport locations. A surcharge was imposed by the Airports Company (ACSA) Ltd at certain airport locations and applies to all car rental companies. The current charge is 9% on the time and kilometre rate. What is Tourism Levy? Members of the South African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (SAVRALA) agreed to impose a 1% tourism levy, to be used to promote tourism in South Africa under the auspices of SATOUR and SATBC. What is the additional driver fee for? This is for risk and administration related costs for multiple drivers. The fee of R190.00 applies per driver per rental. Why do we pay accident administration fee? As the liability amount on the waivers only contributes towards the repair costs of the vehicle, an administration fee of R500.00 per incident will be levied to cover the costs of processing the claim. This includes items such as assessor fees, quote gathering and legal services. Why is there an administration fee for traffic fines received ? There is a traffic fine administration fee of R190 in the event that the renter receives a traffic fine whilst renting the Budget vehicle. This fee will be levied to cover the cost of redirecting the fine to the renter. When is there no charge for re-fuelling? There is no charge for re-fuelling when the vehicle is returned with a full tank. How is the 24-hour period calculated? Rates are calculated on a 24-hour period from the time of rental until the return of the vehicle. A 59 minute grace period is applied when the vehicle is returned. What is a One Way Fee? A one way fee is charged when a customer collects the vehicle from one location and returns the vehicle to a Budget location in excess of 150km from the rental location. This will be stated at time of reservation/quote. |
